Favorite exchange on Fiverr is one of the big mistake. In this article we will cover 3 things:
- What is Gig Favorite
- What is Favorite Exchange
- Its impact on your Fiverr gig, account & reputation.
Gig Favorite:
Gig favorite is simply a way of saving your gig’s URL for future reference. Fiverr allows its sellers/users to create gigs. Buyers have the option to browse gigs all over the marketplace. Most of the cases buyer search & look around gigs, and they do not buy immediately as soon as they find a gig. Generally a buyer look around the marketplace and shortlisted few gigs for comparison/future reference. They can always go to the List [screenshot] and see their saved/favorite gigs.
Every gig contains a heart icon/symbol and you have to click on the heart icon if you want to save the gig in your list.

Gig favorite simply refers to your saved gig(s) for future reference.
Favorite Exchange:
What is Favorite Exchange?
Gig Favorite Exchange is not any official name or topic created by Fiverr.Com. Favorite exchange is the process of manipulating the ‘total number of favorites’ and it’s gaming the system.
Some shady guys brought this idea on social media platforms and specially on Facebook.Com. I had no idea before and I was confused when I first saw this term “Favorite Exchange” may be in 2016. Anyways, if you Google ‘Fiverr Gig Favorite Exchange’ or search on Facebook, you will see a lots of posts, groups exist only on this exchange topic. They are just saving each other’s gig for the sake of favorite. For example: User-A hits the favorite icon on User-B’s gig, and User-B hits the favorite icon on User-A’s gig. What a cooperation really! 🙂
Specially newbies do this favorite exchange mostly and they do not have clear idea about what they are doing. Recently I found a question on this similar topic on Quora and people ask this type of questions a lot. I answered to the question and gave him/her some real world solid (ethical & working) advice in a short version. But the problem is- most guys want to get success with few clicks and do not have willingness to work hard for it. You can’t imagine how many people are wasting their valuable time and ruining Fiverr carrier on their own. Look at the highlighted area of the below screenshot, I took this screenshot from a Facebook post:

Impact of Favorite Exchange:
Now you know what is gig favorite and what is favorite exchange. And you also understood that it’s not a great job exchanging gig favorite. Of course, it’s supportive to have a large number of gig favorites. Large number of favorite indicates higher popularity and it attracts buyer’s attention behind the scenes. It also leads more sales and there is a reason of bringing a particular gig top of search results. But, this is a big BUT! If a gig contains a large number of favorites & have very little sales/orders, then it indicates something abnormal.
Imagine you have a super shop. Which products you will display at the front line? Definitely those products which were sold maximum amount of time. But if your gig gets huge impressions, views, clicks & favorites and then if your gig doesn’t get orders frequently, it will indicate that your gig is not fit enough for sale. It will send a red signal to Fiverr Algorithm and they will push down your gig and keep it way far from search result.
A gig also receives Click & View at the same time when a seller pretends to hit the favorite icon on other seller’s gig. Both sellers do the same thing for each other but their gigs do not get any sales/orders end of the day. This is just not only wasting time but also ruining own Fiverr Career. If Fiverr can establish a million dollar marketplace then its algorithm smart enough to prevent those kind of fraudulent activities and keep them way far from limelight. Sometimes those activities may get instant result for a very short period of time but their gig will be caught very soon and will disappear in the long run. Same thing is true for their Fiverr Account.
It’s Time to Think Ethically
Mistakes are part of life but reputation never comes back. Doing anything against their ToS is equivalent to illegal activities, and once it got caught the reputation is gone forever. So if any seller already have done it without knowing the ToS should take a U-Turn right now and feel repentance.
Does Favorite Exchange Really Matter: Not really. It’s just like a mirage. In my personal experience I saw the number of favorites do not affected my sales at all! I had very low number of favorites but I sold huge on Fiverr. I still have the old clients from 2016 and till to date. They are still happy to pay me higher rate on Fiverr while they have the opportunity to get their job done with lower price. Keep in mind, there are other valid ways to be successful on Fiverr. All the valid ways/tricks do not work well equally for everyone but it’s your job to think, try & find your valid solution. You don’t know what works best for you until you try. Don’t try shortcut, think of your service from a buyer’s perspective, take action & make improvements.
