Signup for an Account on Fiverr
Firstly you have to signup for an account to be able to create gigs and to start selling. Creating an account is very simple and just like any other signup process. But be aware of few things:
Username:
- Use only letters and do not use number & symbol.
- Try to use your nick name. If it’s not available try to mix things up.
- Keep it short & meaningful.
- Make it’s aligned with your name. Because your username will be shown as your name to other users. And most of the cases they will call you by your username.
- Choose easy to spell word(s) and easy to remember.
There is an another debatable suggestion about choosing username. It’s your skill or niche. For example- you are a graphic designer and you can choose an username matching with your skill, e.g: john_designer. In my personal opinion, it’s not a good idea. Some people thinks that it will help them to appear in search result. However, it’s not the case. Though there is an option to search by username. But buyers do not search for usernames, they only search for gigs.
So it’s not a good idea to have your expertise or skill in your username. Most importantly, other users will call you by your username. Consequently, it looks better if someone call me “johndoe” instead of “john_designer”. John Doe (johndoe) has a personal touch & branding flavor. On the other hand, “john_designer” has a generic flavor and do not have any personal touch. Keep in mind, you are not allowed to change your Username once it has been created. And username will be used on your every gig URL. So take your time & think wisely before choosing an username for you.
Email:
Next important thing is your Email. It’s pretty straight forward. Use your own email to create the account. But I suggest you to not use Business Email. This is just because you may not have access to the business email if you unsubscribe for it.
Business email is paid email ID managed by Google/Outlook/etc. Google calls it ‘G Suite’ (Workspace). It has same interface as Gmail. This email ends with your domain/business name. For example- hello@yourdomain.com but actually it’s Gmail. Google charges $72 USD per year for one Business Email. Microsoft Outlook also gives you opportunity to create Business Email. And they charges $36 USD per year. If you unsubscribe for your Business Email, you will no longer have access to the email.
Profile Photo:
Your profile photo is one of the most important part of your seller account. But many sellers do not give importance on it. Your profile photo should be genuine. Most importantly, choose a photo with smiley face. Because it creates the highest impression on buyer’s mind in the background.
Do not use your business logo or something else. Because people like to communicate & work with real person, and do not want to work with an anonymous.
The competition is high on the marketplace. So you have to look for every possibility and apply all the valid technics to be able to make money on Fiverr.
Profile Settings, Title & Overview:
Once you created your account, do not forget to add security question & answer. It’s an additional layer of your security. Verify your phone & identity. Navigate to your profile page (www.fiverr.com/your_username). And you will find an option to write a title/sentence underneath your username. You are allowed to write 67 characters here. I suggest you to write a short sentence about your profession. For example- Web Developer for Your Business. Secondly, you also have an option for writing a small biography/description about you. And you can use 692 characters for it.
It’s your opportunity to showcase your expertise and giving the reasons to hire you. I suggest you to write about how you helped clients in the past and how you can help your future clients. I saw that many sellers on Fiverr write only about themselves but clients are not interested on your personal matter. They are seeking a reason to hire you. So use this opportunity to boost your sell on Fiverr. And That’s enough for creating your Fiverr account.
Create a Gig properly
Creating a gig on Fiverr is easy but it’s crucial when it comes to search appearance or rank. However, a few things are very important about any gig:
- Permalink or URL
- Title
- SEO title
- Description
- Tags
Permalink or URL:
Your Gig URL is permanent once it has been created and you are not allowed to change it. The sequence of a gig URL like this: fiverr.com/your_username/gig_title. Your gig automatically generates the URL when you publish it for the first time. And it will never change in future and even if you rewrite your gig title. So expend some time to make your permalink/URL SEO friendly. And it could be helpful to start selling on Fiverr. So why not taking this opportunity to make it SEO friendly. After all, you can change your gig title anytime.
Title:
Gig Title is super important both for search results & to convince your buyer. Make it short and to the point. A gig title should be easy to understand in first sight and without much thinking. Do not make it complex by adding too many keywords. Buyers generally ignore gigs with long titles. Your gig title is already populated by the words “I Will”. So you have to start with a VERB and complete the sentence in one go. If possible- do not use Transition Words in your gig title.
SEO Title:
SEO Title helps your gig to find in search results. It could be both in Fiverr or out side of Fiverr. For example- Google/Bing/etc.

So expend some time on your gig SEO title. You can use Google Keyword Planner to find proper keywords and make an SEO title for your gig. But do not over-optimize with keywords. Pro tip– target only one keyword. Note that one keyword may contain single or multiple words.
Description -It Helps You to Make Money on Fiverr:
Buyers make decision after checking your Gig Description. And either they place an order or contact you or leave your gig. So it’s worth writing a clean description for your gig. A good description clearly describes gig offerings, what to expect and what is not to expect. Never overpromise and do not force your buyers to take or not to take an action. For example- “Do not place order without discussing with me” OR “Contact me before placing an order”. Because this kind of approach creates negative impact on buyer’s mind. And you should not bias the way how it works, or you can not change the rule of the marketplace.
Fiverr itself tells that all the gigs on their marketplace is just like digital products. So a buyer can order you without any prior notice or without your permission. But if it’s really indeed to ask you before ordering, you can say something like this: “I expect your message before ordering, because I want to ensure that I’m capable enough to fulfill your requirements”.
Tags are generally used to narrow down your gig towards the specification. For example- you are an Author and your gig title is “I Will Write SEO Friendly Article”. Let’s say, you also want to write about ‘Blog Post, Technology, Guest Post, Online Entrepreneur’. In this case do you need to create four other gigs? Of course not. This is where Tags come into play. Mention the tags which best suits for your gig & expectation. Tags are also helpful to find your gig on search results. You can use 5 tags maximum.

Making money on Fiverr is not that hard actually it seems. But if you have to be skilled in your niche. Once you created a gig, you are ready to sell on Fiverr.
Allow People to Place Order
Only creating a gig is not enough to make money on Fiverr. Give a reason for your buyers to hire you or place orders. There are hundreds of sellers on Fiverr just like you. Have you ever thought why should people hire you instead of someone else? Don’t get me wrong, there are thousands of buyers on Fiverr as well. The buyer hires a seller for a reason. It could be solving a specific problem or creating something new or saving money or something else. Find a reason in yourself and highly focus on the reason. It will really help you to make money on Fiverr if you find & focus on the reason. Pro tip– a reason could be quality, experience, track record, availability, support, effectiveness, price (cheap/expensive), exception, etc.
Likewise, answer questions if they ask you. Buyers generally ask about your past experience if you do not have any. Consequently, newbies generally have been being asked for their past work samples. Take it easy if you do not have any past experience or live portfolio items. However, it doesn’t hurt if you become proactive and create some test projects or if you do some experiments and showcases your portfolio. But be honest with your portfolio and with your clients. keep in mind, your honesty is the most important portfolio item to your clients. Just it does not have any URL.
Do not share your gig randomly on social media platforms. And never take any action which sounds spammy. There are lots of sellers sharing their gigs all over the internet but they end up with no sales. Make sure you are patient enough, have a professional attitude and you hate spamming. We have written another article about how to promote your gig without spamming, and you can check this article later.
Custom Offer -Efficient Way to Make Money on Fiverr:
Your gig/package offerings may not have an exact match with the buyer’s requirements. Or buyers may need additional help than your gig offerings. In this case, you can send them a Custom Offer upon discussion. And this is an efficient way to earn from Fiverr. You could send a custom offer with a high amount. This amount varies depending on the seller’s level.
Gig Extra -Additional Layer to Make Money on Fiverr:
Gig Extra or short for Extra. It allows you to make additional offer to your existing clients. Believe it or not, this option works very nice to make extra money from your existing order. Because those are hot client and already connected with you. They just don’t know- they are missing something special.

For example- you are a web developer and developing a website for your client. Of course, the client will need to optimize their website for Search Engines. And you can help them by offering Gig Extra and you can earn more money from it.
Get Necessary Information to Complete an Order
On the gig Requirements tab, you have the option to ask necessary questions. It’s mandatory to add at least one question and you can ask upto 10 questions. So use this requirements tab to gather necessary information from your buyer. Those answers will help you to start & complete an order.

Your buyer will prompted to this questionnaire after making the payment (escrow). And they have to answer of those questions to be able to complete the order placement. And this is how does Fiverr work.
Work on Order as Promised
This is the moment we have been waiting for! Once you get an order, you have to work on the order to be able to make money on Fiverr. If you still have questions during the Work in Progress, feel free to ask your buyer.
Deliver Order Upon Completion
It’s mandatory to deliver your order upon completion. Otherwise, buyer will not be able to release the fund for you. Once you complete the order, send a personalized message along with your delivery. And give them all the necessary information.
However, many sellers ask for review/feedback while delivering the order. But I would suggest you to not ask/request for review. This is just because Fiverr do this on behalf of you. And also most of the clients do not like this attitude. Keep in mind, review is important only for you but it’s not important for your buyer. So do not bother asking for reviews. In addition, asking for specific ratings is against Fiverr ToS. For example- asking for 5 stars review is against their terms of service. However, if you want to make money on Fiverr for a long period of time, you have to stay professional. There is no other substitute.
Follow Up With Your Order Delivery
Buyers have 3 days to accept your delivery. If they do not respond to your delivery within 3 days, your delivery will be automatically marked as completed. And the fund will be released to your Fiverr account. On the other hand, buyers also have 3 days to ask for revisions. Your job is to follow up with revisions and if they need additional help with your delivery.
But do not hang with Out of Scope. Just politely tell them, it will require additional cost if they need additional work to be done (which is out of scope). Anyways, once your order is completed, you get 80%, and Fiverr takes 20% as their commission. Your 80% earnings will come across 14 days clearing period and will be added to your Fiverr Balance. Only then you will be able to withdraw the fund to your Bank, Payoneer, or Paypal. However, once you become a top-rated seller, the clearing period will be 7 days instead of 14. The lowest withdraw amount is $30 USD.
